AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NEURORADIOLOGY. Diagnostic Accuracy of 4 Commercially Available Semiautomatic Packages for Carotid Artery Stenosis Measurement on CTA

J. Borst, H.A. Marquering, M. Kappelhof, T. Zadi, A.C. van Dijk, P.J. Nederkoorn, R. van den Berg, A. van der Lugt and C.B.L.M. Majoie

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Semiautomatic measurement of ICA stenosis potentially increases observer reproducibility. In this study, we assessed the diagnostic accuracy and interobserver reproducibility of a commercially available semiautomatic ICA stenosis measurement on CTA and estimated the agreement among different software packages.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NEURORADIOLOGY. LEO Baby Stent Use following Balloon-Assisted Coiling: Single- and Dual-Stent Technique—Immediate and Midterm Results of 29 Consecutive Patients

P. Machi, V. Costalat, K. Lobotesis, C. Ruiz, Y.B. Cheikh, O. Eker, G. Gascou, F. Danière, C. Riquelme and A. Bonafé

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: We report our preliminary results in terms of safety and efficacy in using the low-profile LEO Baby stent for the treatment of large-neck and complex intracranial aneurysms with balloon-then-stent-assisted coiling and single- or dual-stent-assisted coiling.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NEURORADIOLOGY. Platelet Testing is Associated with Worse Clinical Outcomes for Patients Treated with the Pipeline Embolization Device

W. Brinjikji, G. Lanzino, H.J. Cloft, A.H. Siddiqui, R.A. Hanel and D.F. Kallmes

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The necessity for platelet-inhibition testing before aneurysm treatment in patients premedicated with antiplatelet agents is controversial. Using the International Retrospective Study of Pipeline Embolization Device registry, we studied complication rates in groups of patients who underwent platelet testing and those who did not undergo platelet testing to determine if these test results were associated with improved outcomes.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NEURORADIOLOGY. Initial Experience with p64: A Novel Mechanically Detachable Flow Diverter for the Treatment of Intracranial Saccular Sidewall Aneurysms

S. Fischer, M. Aguilar-Pérez, E. Henkes, W. Kurre, O. Ganslandt, H. Bäzner and H. Henkes

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Flow diverters are important tools for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms. We report a retrospective evaluation of the safety and efficacy of p64, a fully resheathable, detachable flow diverter, in the endovascular treatment of intracranial sidewall aneurysms.

AHA/ASA Scientific Statement. Cervical Arterial Dissections and Association With Cervical Manipulative Therapy. A Statement for Healthcare Professionals From the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association

José Biller, MD, FAHA, Chair; Ralph L. Sacco, MS, MD, FAHA, Co-Chair; Felipe C. Albuquerque, MD; Bart M. Demaerschalk, MD, MSc; Pierre Fayad, MD, FAHA; Preston H. Long, DC, PhD; Lori D. Noorollah, MD; Peter D. Panagos, MD, FAHA; Wouter I. Schievink, MD; Neil E. Schwartz, MD, PhD; Ashfaq Shuaib, MD, FAHA; David E. Thaler, MD, PhD, FAHA; David L. Tirschwell, MD, MSc; on behalf of the American Heart Association Stroke Council

Purpose: Cervical artery dissections (CDs) are among the most common causes of stroke in young and middle-aged adults. The aim of this scientific statement is to review the current state of evidence on the diagnosis and management of CDs and their statistical association with cervical manipulative therapy (CMT). In some forms of CMT, a high or low amplitude thrust is applied to the cervical spine by a healthcare professional.

NEUROSURGERY. Resolution of Oculomotor Nerve Palsy Secondary to Posterior Communicating Artery Aneurysms: Comparison of Clipping and Coiling

McCracken, D. Jay MD*; Lovasik, Brendan P. BS‡; McCracken, Courtney E. PhD‡; Caplan, Justin M. MD§; Turan, Nefize MD*; Nogueira, Raul G. MD*; Cawley, C. Michael MD*; Dion, Jacques E. MD*; Tamargo, Rafael J. MD§; Barrow, Daniel L. MD*; Pradilla, Gustavo MD*

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have attempted to determine the best treatment for oculomotor nerve palsy (ONP) secondary to posterior communicating artery (PCoA) aneurysms, but have been limited by small sample sizes and limited treatment.

NEUROSURGERY. Surgical Clipping of Very Small Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms: A Multicenter International Study

Bruneau, Michaël MD, PhD*; Amin-Hanjani, Sepideh MD‡; Koroknay-Pal, Päivi MD, PhD§; Bijlenga, Philippe MD, PhD¶; Jahromi, Behnam Rezai MB§; Lehto, Hanna MD§; Kivisaari, Riku MD, PhD§; Schaller, Karl MD¶; Charbel, Fady MD‡; Khan, Sajeel MD‡; Mélot, Christian MD, PhD, MScBiostat‖; Niemela, Mika MD, PhD§; Hernesniemi, Juha MD, PhD§

BACKGROUND: Treatment of very small unruptured intracranial aneurysms (VSUIAs, defined as ≤3 mm) can be indicated in selected circumstances. The feasibility and outcomes of endovascular therapy for VSUIAs have been recently published; however, the efficacy and complication rate of surgical clipping has not been reported in any large series to date.
