Current observations on the Pipeline Embolization Device for intracranial aneurysms

Over 90% total obliteration rate at 12 months have been consistently confirmed among studies. Stroke risk high when anti-clotting drugs stopped

Patient-specific cerebral artery model for simulating neurointervention

Makoto Negoro, professor, Fujita Health University, School of Medicine, Toyoake-Nagoya, Japan, tells NeuroNews that simulation-based training is beginning to receive great attention in surgery and endovascular intervention. He says the simulator, called EVE, which takes its initials from EndoVascular Evaluator, is able to analyse the process and the result of an intervention performed by a trainee.

Giant aneurysms and flow diversion, five years of follow-up

Giant aneurysms are defined as those whose maximum diameter exceeds 2.5cm. The natural history of these lesions is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. The first report on giant aneurysms dates back to 1875, written by Hutchinson. In the large patient series based reports of Drake and Sundt, published between 1979 and 1991, they were considered as being operable with an acceptable morbidity-mortality rate.
