BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Arterial spin-labeling and susceptibility-weighted imaging are 2 MR imaging techniques that do not require gadolinium. The study aimed to assess the accuracy of arterial spin-labeling and SWI combined for detecting intracranial arteriovenous shunting in comparison with conventional MR imaging.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The TICI score is widely used to evaluate cerebral perfusion before and after the endovascular treatment of stroke. Recent studies showing the effectiveness and safety of mechanical thrombectomy combine modified TICI 2b and modified TICI 3 to assess the technical success of endovascular treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine how much clinical outcomes differ between patients achieving modified TICI 2b and modified TICI 3 reperfusion.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The introduction of liquid embolic agents has revolutionized endovascular approach to cranial vascular malformations. The aim of the study was to retrospectively assess the efficacy and safety of Precipitating Hydrophobic Injectable Liquid (PHIL), a new nonadhesive liquid embolic agent, in the treatment of patients with cranial dural arteriovenous fistulas. The primary end point was the rate of complete occlusion of dural arteriovenous fistulas. Secondary end points included the incidence of adverse events and clinical status at 3-month follow-up.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Spinal epidural AVFs are rare spinal vascular malformations. When there is associated intradural venous reflux, they may mimic the more common spinal dural AVFs. Correct diagnosis and localization before conventional angiography is beneficial to facilitate treatment. We hypothesize that first-pass contrast-enhanced MRA can diagnose and localize spinal epidural AVFs with intradural venous reflux and distinguish them from other spinal AVFs.

Sinus stenosis impedes venous outflow and aggravates intracranial hypertension by reversing cortical venous drainage. This study aimed to analyze the likelihood of sinus stenosis and its impact on cerebral hemodynamics of various types of dural arteriovenous fistulas.

NEURORADIOLOGY. Endovascular treatment of carotico-cavernous fistulas with acrylic glue: a series of nine cases

Introduction: Injuries to the internal carotid artery close to the cavernous sinus may result in a fistulous connection between the artery and the venous sinus. Symptoms include pulsatile tinnitus, intracranial bruit, ophthalmological symptoms, and risk of intracerebral hematoma in cases of cortical venous reflux. Previous treatment strategies have included detachable latex balloons, coils, covered stents, or combinations thereof. Today, detachable latex balloons are phased out or withdrawn from several markets. Acrylic glue is a proven stable material used for embolization of arteriovenous shunts. It is a precise, fast, and cost-effective method of endovascular embolization, and it does not cause artifacts on MRI or MRA.

Purpose: Less than half of acute ischemic stroke patients treated with mechanical thrombectomy obtain permanent clinical benefits. Consequently, there is an urgent need to identify mechanisms implicated in the limited efficacy of early reperfusion. We evaluated the predictors and prognostic significance of vessel wall permeability impairment and its association with blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB) disruption after acute stroke treated with thrombectomy.

Purpose: Pseudo-occlusion (PO) of the cervical internal carotid artery (ICA) refers to an isolated occlusion of the intracranial ICA that appears as an extracranial ICA occlusion on computed tomography angiography (CTA) or digital subtraction angiography because of blockage of distal contrast penetration by a stagnant column of unopacified blood. We aim to better characterize this poorly recognized entity.
