CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Safety and Effectiveness of UFE in Fibroids Larger than 10 cm

Viktor Bérczi, Éva Valcseva, Dóra Kozics, Ildikó Kalina, Pál Kaposi, Péter Sziller, Szabolcs Várbíró, Erzsébet Mária Botos

Introduction: Early literature suggested that the size of the uterus, the size of the dominant fibroid, and the amount of applied embolization particles would be the risk factors for major postprocedural complications, but recent publications have confuted these early results. The purpose of our study was to evaluate whether the size of the dominant fibroid would influence the complication rate and effectiveness in a large single-center cohort.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Double Coaxial Microcatheter Technique for Glue Embolization of Renal Arteriovenous Malformations

Yoko Uchikawa, Kensaku Mori, Masanari Shiigai, Takahiro Konishi, Sodai Hoshiai, Toshitaka Ishigro, Takashi Hiyama, Yasunobu Nakai, Manabu Minami

Purpose: To demonstrate the technical benefit of the double coaxial microcatheter technique for embolization of renal arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) with n-butyl cyanoacrylate and iodized oil (glue).

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Hepatic Tract Plug-Embolisation After Biliary Stenting. Is It Worthwhile?

Adam P. Dale, Rafeh Khan, Anup Mathew, Naomi O. Hersey, Robert Peck, Frederick Lee, Stephen D. Goode

Purpose: PTC and stenting procedures are associated with significant risks including life-threatening haemorrhage, sepsis, renal failure and high mortality rates. PTC tract closure methods are utilised to reduce haemorrhagic complications despite little evidence to support their use. The current study assesses the incidence of haemorrhagic complications following PTC and stenting procedures, both prior to and following the introduction of a dedicated expanding gelatin foam-targeted embolisation liver tract closure technique.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Single-Centre Experience with Percutaneous Cryoablation of Breast Cancer in 23 Consecutive Non-surgical Patients

Roberto Luigi Cazzato, Christine Tunon de Lara, Xavier Buy, Stéphane Ferron, Gabrielle Hurtevent, Marion Fournier, Marc Debled, Jean Palussière

Aim: To present our single-centre prospective experience on the use of cryoablation (CA) applied to treat primary breast cancer (BC) in a cohort of patients unsuitable for surgical treatment.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Hepatic Arteriography in Chemoembolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Performance Depicting Tumors and Tumor Feeders

In Joon Lee, Jin Wook Chung, Yong Hu Yin, Hyo-Cheol Kim, Young Il Kim, Hwan Jun Jae, Jae Hyung Park

Purpose: This study was designed to analyze retrospectively the performance of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) hepatic arteriography in depicting tumors and their feeders and to investigate the related determining factors in chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt Placement During Pregnancy: A Case Series of Five Patients

Christopher R. Ingraham, Siddharth A. Padia, Guy E. Johnson, Thomas R. Easterling, Iris W. Liou, Kalpana M. Kanal, Karim Valji

Background and Aims: Complications of portal hypertension, such as variceal hemorrhage and ascites, are associated with significant increases in both mortality and complications during pregnancy. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is a well-established procedure for treating portal hypertension, but the safety of TIPS during pregnancy is largely unknown. In this series, we review five patients who underwent TIPS placement while pregnant and describe their clinical outcomes.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Intra-Arterial Thrombolysis for Hepatic Artery Thrombosis following Liver Transplantation

Matthew J. Kogut, MD, David S. Shin, MD, Siddharth A. Padia, MD, Guy E. Johnson, MD, Daniel S. Hippe, MS, Karim Valji, MD

Purpose: Hepatic artery thrombosis (HAT) is a major cause of morbidity and death following liver transplantation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of intra-arterial thrombolysis (IAT) in liver transplant recipients with HAT.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Occlusion of the Internal Iliac Artery Is Associated with Smaller Prostate and Decreased Urinary Tract Symptoms

Amy R. Deipolyi, MD, PhD, Shehab Al-Ansari, MD, Ali Khademhosseini, PhD, Rahmi Oklu, MD, PhD

Purpose: To characterize the relationship of proximal internal iliac artery (IIA) occlusion or embolization on prostate volume (PV) and the presence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
