Kazim H. Narsinh, MD Mark Van Buskirk, MS Andrew S. Kennedy, MD, PhD Mohammed Suhail, MD Naif Alsaikhan, MD Carl K. Hoh, MD Kenneth Thurston, PhD Jeet Minocha, MD David S. Ball, DO Steven J. Cohen, MD Michael Cohn, MD Douglas M. Coldwell, MD, PhD Alain Drooz, MD Eduardo Ehrenwald, MD Samir Kanani, MD Charles W. Nutting, DO Fred M. Moeslein, MD, PhD Michael A. Savin, MD Sabine Schirm, MD Samuel G. Putnam III, MD Navesh K. Sharma, DO, PhD Eric A. Wang, MD Steven C. Rose, MD

Purpose: To determine if high lung shunt fraction (LSF) is an independent prognostic indicator of poor survival in patients who undergo yttrium 90 radioembolization for unresectable liver-dominant metastatic colorectal cancer.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Novel Use of a Pneumatic Compression Device for Haemostasis of Haemodialysis Fistula Access Catheterisation Sites

Michael K. O’Reilly, David Ryan, Gavin Sugrue, Tony Geoghegan, Leo P. Lawler, Cormac T. Farrelly

Purpose: Transradial pneumatic compression devices can be used to achieve haemostasis following radial artery puncture. This article describes a novel technique for acquiring haemostasis of arterio-venous haemodialysis fistula access sites without the need for suture placement using one such compression device.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Renal Angiomyolipoma: Mid- to Long-Term Results Following Embolization with Onyx

Narayanan Thulasidasan, Srividhiya Sriskandakumar, Shahzad Ilyas, Tarun Sabharwal

Purpose: Percutaneous transcatheter embolization is currently the preferred treatment for ruptured or enlarging renal angiomyolipoma (AML), although the optimum choice of embolic material has not yet been established. We present mid- to long-term outcomes following embolization of AMLs with Onyx.

RADIOLOGY. Endovascular MR-guided Renal Embolization by Using a Magnetically Assisted Remote-controlled Catheter System

Prasheel V. Lillaney, PhD, Jeffrey K. Yang, BS, Aaron D. Losey, MD, Alastair J. Martin, PhD, Daniel L. Cooke, MD, Bradford R. H. Thorne, David C. Barry, BS, Andrew Chu, BA, Carol Stillson, DVM, Loi Do, MS, Ronald L. Arenson, MD, Maythem Saeed, DVM, PhD, Mark W. Wilson, MD, Steven W. Hetts, MD

Purpose: To assess the feasibility of a magnetically assisted remote-controlled (MARC) catheter system under magnetic resonance (MR) imaging guidance for performing a simple endovascular procedure (ie, renal artery embolization) in vivo and to compare with x-ray guidance to determine the value of MR imaging guidance and the specific areas where the MARC system can be improved.

RADIOLOGY. Augmented Reality on a C-Arm System: A Preclinical Assessment for Percutaneous Needle Localization

John M. Racadio, MD, Rami Nachabe, PhD, Robert Homan, MSc, Ross Schierling, RT, Judy M. Racadio, MD, Draženko Babić, MD

Purpose: To compare the navigational accuracy and radiation dose during needle localization of targets for augmented reality (AR) with and without motion compensation (MC) versus those for cone-beam computed tomography (CT) with real-time fluoroscopy navigation in a pig model.

RADIOLOGY. Predictors of Clinical Outcome after Prostate Artery Embolization with Spherical and Nonspherical Polyvinyl Alcohol Particles in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Tiago Bilhim, MD, PhD, João Pisco, MD, PhD, José A. Pereira, MD, Nuno Vasco Costa, MD, Lúcia Fernandes, MD, Luís Campos Pinheiro, MD, PhD, Marisa Duarte, MD, António G. Oliveira, MD, PhD

Purpose: To assess predictors of outcome after prostate artery embolization (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia with spherical particle polyvinyl alcohol (sPVA) and compare outcomes with the use of nonspherical particle polyvinyl alcohol (nsPVA).

RADIOLOGY. Long-term Graft and Patient Survival after Balloon Dilation of Ureteric Stenosis after Renal Transplant: A 23-year Retrospective Matched Cohort Study

Shankar Kumar, BSc (Hons), MBBS, Justyn H. Jeon, BSc (Hons), MBBS, Aishah Hakim, BSc (Hons), MBBS, Seema Shrivastava, PhD, FRCP, Debasish Banerjee, MD, FRCP, FASN, Uday Patel, MB ChB, MRCP, FRCR

Purpose: To study long-term graft and patient survival after percutaneous ureteroplasty of ureteric stenosis after renal transplantation and to compare the outcomes to those of patients who did not develop ureteric stenosis.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Quantitative Real-Time Fluoroscopy Analysis on Measurement of the Hepatic Arterial Flow During Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Comparison with Quantitative Digital Subtraction Angiography Analysis

Yi-Yang Lin, Rheun-Chuan Lee, Wan-Yuo Guo, Wei-Fa Chu, Frank Chun-Hsien Wu, Sonja Gehrisch

Purpose: To quantify the arterial flow change during transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using digital subtraction angiography, quantitative color-coding analysis (d-QCA), and real-time subtraction fluoroscopy QCA (f-QCA).

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Radioembolization Versus Chemoembolization: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Laila Lobo, Danny Yakoub, Omar Picado, Caroline Ripat, Fiorella Pendola, Rishika Sharma, Rana ElTawil, Deukwoo Kwon, Shree Venkat, Loraine Portelance, Raphael Yechieli

Background: Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) has emerged as a newer regional therapy to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aim of this study is to compare clinical outcomes of both the techniques.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Safety and Effectiveness of Percutaneously Inserted Peritoneal Ports Compared to Surgically Inserted Ports in a Retrospective Study of 87 Patients with Ovarian Carcinoma over a 10-Year Period

Joel Woodley-Cook, Emidio Tarulli, Kong T. Tan, Dheeraj K. Rajan, Martin E. Simons

Purpose: Placement of peritoneal ports has become a favorable technique for direct chemotherapy infusion in treating peritoneal metastases from ovarian cancer. We aim to outline an approach to the percutaneous insertion of peritoneal ports and to characterize success and complication rates compared to surgically inserted ports.
