AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Factors Influencing Local Tumor Control in Patients With Neoplastic Pulmonary Nodules Treated With Microwave Ablation: A Risk-Factor Analysis

Thomas J. Vogl, Thomas S. Worst, Nagy N. N. Naguib, Hanns Ackermann, Tatjana Gruber-Rouh and Nour-Eldin A. Nour-Eldin

OBJECTIVE. This study was performed to evaluate risk factors predictive of local tumor control after microwave ablation of primary and secondary lung malignancies up to 3 cm in maximal diameter.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Pretreatment Microbubble-Induced Enhancement in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Predicts Intrahepatic Distant Recurrence After Radiofrequency Ablation

Hitoshi Maruyama, Masanori Takahashi, Taro Shimada, Tadashi Sekimoto, Hidehiro Kamesaki, Fumihiko Kanai and Osamu Yokosuka

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study is to examine whether pretreatment findings in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using contrast-enhanced ultrasound can predict local or distant recurrence after radiofrequency ablation (RFA).

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Interventional Radiologic Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma—A Cost Analysis from the Payer Perspective

Charles E. Ray Jr, MD, PhD , Catherine Battaglia, PhD, RN , Anne M. Libby, PhD , Allan Prochazka, MD, MSc , Stan Xu, PhD , Brian Funaki, MD

Purpose: To determine whether there is a cost advantage for one of the three commonly performed interventional radiology (IR) procedures (chemoembolization, selective internal radiation therapy [SIRT], radiofrequency ablation [RFA]) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

EUROPEAN HEART JOURNAL. Inflammatory and injury signals released from the post-stenotic human kidney

Alfonso Eirin, Monika L. Gloviczki, Hui Tang, Mario Gössl, Kyra L. Jordan, John R. Woollard, Amir Lerman, Joseph P. Grande, Stephen C. Textor and Lilach O. Lerman

Aims The mechanisms mediating kidney injury and repair in humans with atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) remain poorly understood. We hypothesized that the stenotic kidney releases inflammatory mediators and recruits progenitor cells to promote regeneration.

CIRCULATION. A History of Stroke/Transient Ischemic Attack Indicates High Risks of Cardiovascular Event and Hemorrhagic Stroke in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease

Gregory Ducrocq, MD; Pierre Amarenco, MD; Julien Labreuche, BST; Mark J. Alberts, MD; Jean-Louis Mas, MD; E. Magnus Ohman, MD; Shinya Goto, MD; Philippa Lavallée, MD; Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH; Ph. Gabriel Steg, MD

Background—Randomized trials of antithrombotics in coronary artery disease have identified previous stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA) as a marker of increased intracranial bleeding risk. We aimed to further characterize the risk of ischemic and bleeding events associated with a history of stroke/TIA in patients with coronary artery disease.

JOURNAL OF HEPATOLOGY. Radioembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein thrombosis: Impact of liver function on systemic treatment options at disease progression

Khairuddin Memon , Laura Kulik , Robert J. Lewandowski , Mary F. Mulcahy , Al B. Benson , Daniel Ganger , Ahsun Riaz , Ramona Gupta , Michael Vouche , Vanessa L. Gates , Frank H. Miller , Reed A. Omary , Riad Salem

Background & Aims: Yttrium-90 (90Y) radioembolization is a microembolic procedure. Hence, it is commonly used in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with portal venous thrombosis (PVT). We analyzed liver function, imaging findings, and treatment options (local/systemic) at disease progression following 90Y treatment in HCC patients with PVT.
