RADIOLOGY. Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma: MR Imaging after Intraarterial Therapy. Part II. Response Stratification Using Volumetric Functional Criteria after Intraarterial Therapy

Susanne Bonekamp, DVM, PhD, Vivek Gowdra Halappa, MD, Jean-François H. Geschwind, MD, Zhen Li, MD, Celia Pamela Corona-Villalobos, MD, Diane Reyes, BS, Nikhil Bhagat, MD, David P. Cosgrove, MD, Timothy M. Pawlik, MD, Esteban Mezey, MD, John Eng, MD and Ihab R. Kamel, MD, PhD

Purpose: To assess whether volumetric functional magnetic resonance (MR) results 3–4 weeks after initial intraarterial therapy can aid accurate distinction between responders and nonresponders, to determine whether overall survival (OS) is improved, and to compare volumetric functional MR response with anatomic response criteria (Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors [RECIST], modified RECIST [mRECIST], European Association for the Study of the Liver [EASL]), as well as α1-fetoprotein [AFP] level.

HPB. Triple approach strategy for patients with locally advanced pancreatic carcinoma

Alessandro Giardino, Roberto Girelli, Isabella Frigerio, Paolo Regi, Maurizio Cantore, Auriemma Alessandra, Annita Lusenti, Roberto Salvia, Claudio Bassi, Paolo Pederzoli

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a relatively new technique, applied to metastatic solid tumours which, in recent studies, has been shown to be feasible and safe on locally advanced pancreatic carcinoma (LAPC). RFA can be combined with radio-chemotherapy (RCT) and intra-arterial plus systemic chemotherapy (IASC). The aim of this study was to investigate the impact on the prognosis of a multimodal approach to LAPC and define the best timing of RFA.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Translumbar Hemodialysis Catheters in Patients with Limited Central Venous Access: Does Patient Size Matter?

Gregory J. Nadolski, MD , Scott O. Trerotola, MD , S. William Stavropoulos, MD , Richard D. Shlansky-Goldberg, MD , Michael C. Soulen, MD , Cormac Farrelly, MD

Purpose: To describe a single institutional experience with translumbar tunneled dialysis catheters (TDC) and compare outcomes between patients with normal and abnormal body mass index (BMI).

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Endovascular Treatment of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome: Visual Analog Scale (VAS) Long-Term Follow-up Clinical Evaluation in 202 Patients

Alicia Laborda, Joaquin Medrano, Ignacio de Blas, Ignacio Urtiaga, Francisco Cesar Carnevale, Miguel A. de Gregorio

Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the clinical outcome and patients’ satisfaction after a 5 year follow-up period for pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) coil embolization in patients who suffered from chronic pelvic pain that initially consulted for lower limb venous insufficiency.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Planning US for Percutaneous Radiofrequency Ablation of Small Hepatocellular Carcinomas (1–3 cm): Value of Fusion Imaging with Conventional US and CT/MR Images

Min Woo Lee, MD , Hyunchul Rhim, MD , Dong Ik Cha, MD , Young Jun Kim, MD , Hyo K. Lim, MD

Purpose: To assess whether fusion of conventional ultrasonography (US) with liver computed tomography/magnetic resonance images for planning US for percutaneous radiofrequency (RF) ablation can reduce false-positive detection and enhance lesion detectability of small hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) on conventional US.
