CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Safety of Repeated Yttrium-90 Radioembolization

Marnix G. E. H. Lam, John D. Louie, Andrei H. Iagaru, Michael L. Goris, Daniel Y. Sze

Purpose: Repeated radioembolization (RE) treatments carry theoretically higher risk of radiation-induced hepatic injury because of the liver’s cumulative memory of previous exposure. We performed a retrospective safety analysis on patients who underwent repeated RE.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Percutaneous Metallic Stent Placement in Patients with Cancer Recurrence at Bilioenterostomy Site

Cherry Kim, MD , Dong Il Gwon, MD , Gi-Young Ko, MD , Jin Hyoung Kim, MD , Ji Hoon Shin, MD , Heung Kyu Ko, MD , Hyun-Ki Yoon, MD , Kyu-Bo Sung, MD

Purpose: To investigate the outcomes of percutaneous metallic stent placement in patients with malignant bilioenterostomy obstruction and to assess the risk factors influencing stent patency.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Efficacy of TACE in TIPS Patients: Comparison of Treatment Response to Chemoembolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients With and Without a Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt

Yuo-Chen Kuo, Maureen P. Kohi, David M. Naeger, Ricky T. Tong, K. Pallav Kolli, Andrew G. Taylor, Jeanne M. Laberge, Robert K. Kerlan Jr., Nicholas Fidelman

Purpose: To compare treatment response after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with and without a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS).

CIRCULATION: CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTIONS. Stent Revascularization Restores Cortical Blood Flow and Reverses Tissue Hypoxia in Atherosclerotic Renal Artery Stenosis but Fails to Reverse Inflammatory Pathways or Glomerular Filtration Rate

Ahmed Saad, MD, Sandra M.S. Herrmann, MD, John Crane, BS, James F. Glockner, MD, PhD, Michael A. Mckusick, MD, Sanjay Misra, MD, Alfonso Eirin, MD, Behzad Ebrahimi, PhD, Lilach O. Lerman, MD, PhD and Stephen C. Textor, MD

Background—Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) is known to reduce renal blood flow, glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and amplify kidney hypoxia, but the relationships between these factors and tubulointerstitial injury in the poststenotic kidney are poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of renal revascularization in ARAS on renal tissue hypoxia and renal injury.

ANNALS OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Evaluation of Balloon Catheter-Guided Intra-Arterial Thrombolysis for Acute Peripheral Arterial Occlusion

Bassel Dakhil , Pierre Lacal , Ali Ben Abdesselam , Jean Claude Couffinhal , Alen Gordienco , Patrick Bagan

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a new method of in situ thrombolysis using a porous balloon with low pressure compared with traditional in situ infusion of a fibrinolytic agent in the treatment of acute limb ischemia.

ANNALS OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Hepatic Artery Pseudoaneurysms: A Single-Center Experience

Raghavendra Nagaraja , Mahendran Govindasamy , Vibha Varma , Amitabh Yadav , Naimish Mehta , Vinay Kumaran , Arun Gupta , Samiran Nundy

Background: The management of hepatic artery aneurysms has evolved largely because of changes in etiology and presentation, and advances in endovascular therapy. Although many case reports have been published on the condition, few have been from developing countries and few have compared patient outcomes after angioembolization and surgery.

HPB. Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation versus surgical radiofrequency ablation for malignant liver tumours: the long-term results

John Wong, Kit-Fai Lee, Simon Chun-Ho Yu, Paul Sing-Fun Lee, Yue-Sun Cheung, Ching-Ning Chong, Philip Ching-Tak Ip, Paul Bo-San Lai

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver metastases for more than 10 years with promising early outcomes. Preliminary results comparing percutaneous and surgical approaches have shown no difference in short-term outcomes. In this study, the longer-term outcomes were presented.

HPB. Survival analysis of high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation in patients with small hepatocellular carcinoma

Tan To Cheung, Sheung Tat Fan, Ferdinand S. K. Chu, Caroline R. Jenkins, Kenneth S. H. Chok, Simon H. Y. Tsang, Wing Chiu Dai, Albert C. Y. Chan, See Ching Chan, Thomas C. C. Yau, Ronnie T. P. Poon, Chung Mau Lo

Background: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation is a non-invasive treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). At present, data on the treatment s long-term outcome are limited. This study analysed the survival outcome of HIFU ablation for HCCs smaller than 3 cm.
