RADIOLOGY. Analysis of Workflow and Time to Treatment and the Effects on Outcome in Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke: Results from the SWIFT PRIME Randomized Controlled Trial

Mayank Goyal, Ashutosh P. Jadhav, Alain Bonafe, Hans Diener, Vitor Mendes Pereira, Elad Levy, Blaise Baxter, Tudor Jovin, Reza Jahan, Bijoy K. Menon, Jeffrey L. Saver

Purpose: To study the relationship between functional independence and time to reperfusion in the Solitaire with the Intention for Thrombectomy as Primary Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke (SWIFT PRIME) trial in patients with disabling acute ischemic stroke who underwent endovascular therapy plus intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) administration versus tPA administration alone and to investigate variables that affect time spent during discrete steps.

RADIOLOGY. Embolization of Arteriovenous Malformations: Effect of Flow Control and Composition of n-Butyl-2 Cyanoacrylate and Iodized Oil Mixtures with and without Ethanol in an in Vitro Model

Masaki Ishikawa, Masahiro Horikawa, Takuji Yamagami, Barry T. Uchida, Kazuo Awai, John A. Kaufman

Purpose: To elucidate the effect of flow control (ie, balloon occlusion) and the composition of various mixtures of n-butyl-2 cyanoacrylate (NBCA) and iodized oil, with and without the addition of ethanol, for the treatment of arteriovenous malformations in an in vitro model.

RADIOLOGY. Is Post-TIPS Anticoagulation Therapy Necessary in Patients with Cirrhosis and Portal Vein Thrombosis? A Randomized Controlled Trial

Zhu Wang, Ming-Shan Jiang, Hai-Long Zhang, Ning-Na Weng, Xue-Feng Luo, Xiao Li, Li Yang

Purpose: To determine whether posttransjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement anticoagulation therapy could benefit patients with cirrhosis and portal vein thrombosis (PVT) from the perspective of a change in portal vein patency status and clinical outcomes.

RADIOLOGY. A Path to Avoid during Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: Case Report

Rodney De Palma, Magnus Settergren, Andreas Rück, Anders Svensson, Kari Feldt, Nawsad Saleh

Collateral pathways in vascular disease are important natural “bypass” conduits that protect against ischemia. Endovascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures via peripheral access sites are performed frequently. This case report underlines the importance of being aware of collateral circulation in patients with chronic aortoiliac occlusive disease undergoing subclavian transcatheter aortic valve implantation to avoid acute limb ischemia.

RADIOLOGY. Comparison of a Balloon Guide Catheter and a Non–Balloon Guide Catheter for Mechanical Thrombectomy

Aglaé Velasco, Boris Buerke, Christian P. Stracke, Shoma Berkemeyer, Pascal J. Mosimann, Wolfram Schwindt, Pedro Alcázar, Christian Cnyrim, Thomas Niederstadt, René Chapot, Walter Heindel

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy with the use of a stent retriever in acute ischemic stroke, performed by using a balloon guide catheter or non–balloon guide catheter.

RADIOLOGY. Long-term Therapeutic Outcomes of Radiofrequency Ablation for Subcapsular versus Nonsubcapsular Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Propensity Score Matched Study

Tae Wook Kang, Hyo Keun Lim, Min Woo Lee, Young-sun Kim, Hyunchul Rhim, Won Jae Lee, Yong Han Paik, Min Ji Kim, Joong Hyun Ahn

Purpose: To compare the long-term therapeutic outcomes of radiofrequency (RF) ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in subcapsular versus nonsubcapsular locations by using propensity score matching.

RADIOLOGY. Prospective Study of Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) with Ginsenoside Rg3 versus TACE Alone for the Treatment of Patients with Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Bo Zhou, Zhiping Yan, Rong Liu, Peng Shi, Sheng Qian, Xudong Qu, Liang Zhu, Wei Zhang, Jianhua Wang

Purpose: To conduct a single-center, open-label, randomized, controlled trial to compare the effectiveness and safety of (a) ginsenoside Rg3 combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and (b) TACE alone in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
