AIM: To focus on procedure-related complications, evaluate their incidence, analyze the reasons and discuss the solutions.
AIM: To evaluate the incidence of anastomotic strictures after intestinal resection in Crohn’s disease (CD), demonstrate long-term efficacy and safety of endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD) in CD strictures and its impact on the diagnosis of subclinical postoperative endoscopic recurrence.
AIM: To investigate the efficacy and safety of postoperative adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (PA-TACE) in preventing tumor recurrence and improving survival in Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) early (A) and intermediate (B) stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with microvascular invasion (MVI).
Recent studies have shown that radiofrequency (RF) ablation therapy is a safe, feasible, and effective procedure for hepatic hemangiomas, even huge hepatic hemangiomas. RF ablation has the following advantages in the treatment of hepatic hemangiomas: minimal invasiveness, definite efficacy, high safety, fast recovery, relatively simple operation, and wide applicability. It is necessary to formulate a widely accepted consensus among the experts in China who have extensive expertise and experience in the treatment of hepatic hemangiomas using RF ablation, which is important to standardize the application of RF ablation for the management of hepatic hemangiomas, regarding the selection of patients with suitable indications to receive RF ablation treatment, the technical details of the techniques, therapeutic effect evaluations, management of complications, etc. A final consensus by a Chinese panel of experts who have the expertise of using RF ablation to treat hepatic hemangiomas was reached by means of literature review, comprehensive discussion, and draft approval.
AIM: To evaluate the short- and long-term results of endoscopic ultrasound-guided transmural drainage (EUS-GTD) for pancreatic fluid collection (PFC) and identify the predictive factors of treatment outcome for walled-off necrosis (WON) managed by EUS-GTD alone.
AIM: To evaluate the relationship between the location of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE).
Objective: To describe the initial experience with irreversible electroporation (IRE) to treat pelvic tumor recurrences.
Purpose: Favorable long-term outcomes of the Zilver PTX drug-eluting stent (DES) in femoropopliteal lesions have been demonstrated. Chronic renal failure (CRF) has been shown to be a risk factor for restenosis and decreased limb salvage. The results of the DES in patients with CRF have not previously been reported. This study compares the results with the DES in patients with CRF and those without CRF.
Purpose: Radiation safety and protection are a key component of fluoroscopy-guided interventions. We hypothesize that providing weekly personal dose feedback will increase radiation awareness and ultimately will lead to optimized behavior. Therefore, we designed and implemented a personalized feedback of procedure and personal doses for medical staff involved in fluoroscopy-guided interventions.
Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty are minimally invasive techniques applied for the treatment of vertebral fractures. Since not all vertebral compression fractures are the same, a tailored-based approach is necessary for optimum efficacy and safety results. Nowadays, different cements and materials are proposed as alternatives to the original poly-methylmethacrylate aiming to overcome the limitations and the risks governing its use. Both techniques are governed by high efficacy and low complication rates; multilevel treatment in a single session has been shown to be feasible with no compromise of the technique’s safety and efficacy. The purpose of this article is to describe the basic concepts of spinal augmentation by means of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. The current status and future of cements used will be defined. Controversies upon issues concerning both techniques will be addressed. Finally, the necessity for a tailored-based approach applying different techniques for different fractures will be addressed.
Purpose: To evaluate the immediate and long-term safety as well as thrombus-capturing efficacy for 5 weeks after implantation of an absorbable inferior vena cava (IVC) filter in a swine model.
Purpose: To determine the prevalence of and risk factors for needlesticks in interventional radiology physicians, as well as the attitudes, behaviors, and conditions that promote or interfere with reporting of these injuries.
Purpose: To assess the accuracy of computed tomographic (CT) angiography for diagnosis of cerebral aneurysms 5 mm or smaller, with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as the reference standard, in a large patient cohort
Purpose: To assess the effects of preexisting nonmalignant portal vein thrombosis (PVT) on mortality, clinical relapse, shunt dysfunction, and overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement.
Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ultrasonography (US)-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation as a treatment for medically refractory Graves disease (GD).
