CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Treatment of Type II Endoleak Using Onyx With Long-Term Imaging Follow-Up

Minhaj S. Khaja, Auh Whan Park, Warren Swee, Avery J. Evans, J. Fritz Angle, Ulku C. Turba, Saher S. Sabri, Alan H. Matsumoto

Purpose: The purpose of our study is to report our experience with the use of an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (Onyx) in an off-label fashion for the treatment of type II endoleak after endovascular repair of the thoracic (TEVAR) and abdominal (EVAR) aorta.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Clinical effectiveness of secondary interventions for restenosis after renal artery stenting

Thomas A. Simone, MD , Benjamin S. Brooke, MD, PhD , Philip P. Goodney, MD, MS , Daniel B. Walsh, MD , David H. Stone, MD , Richard J. Powell, MD , Jack L. Cronenwett, MD , Brian W. Nolan, MD, MS

Objective: Secondary interventions for renal artery restenosis (RAS) after renal artery stenting are common, despite limited data about their effectiveness. This study was designed to evaluate the outcomes of endovascular treatment of recurrent RAS.

RADIOLOGY. Dynamic CT Angiography after Abdominal Aortic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair: Influence of Enhancement Patterns and Optimal Bolus Timing on Endoleak Detection

Lukas Lehmkuhl, MD, Claudia Andres, MD, Christian Lücke, MD, Janine Hoffmann, MD, Borek Foldyna, MD, Matthias Grothoff, MD, Stefan Nitzsche, MD, Andrej Schmidt, MD, Matthias Ulrich, MD, Dierk Scheinert, MD and Matthias Gutberlet, MD

Purpose: To determine the time course of enhancement patterns in the aorta and endoleaks at dynamic computed tomographic (CT) angiography as well as their effect on the endoleak detection rate in patients who have undergone abdominal aortic endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Comparing endovenous laser ablation, foam sclerotherapy, and conventional surgery for great saphenous varicose veins

Anke A.M. Biemans, MD , Michael Kockaert, MD , George P. Akkersdijk, MD , Renate R. van den Bos, MD, PhD , Marianne G.R. de Maeseneer, MD, PhD , Philip Cuypers, MD, PhD , Theo Stijnen, PhD , Martino H.A. Neumann, MD, PhD , Tamar Nijsten, MD, PhD

Background: Many case series have been published on treatments of varicose veins, but comparative randomized controlled trials remain sparse.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Efficacy of thoracic endovascular stent repair for chronic type B aortic dissection with aneurysmal degeneration

Salvatore T. Scali, MDemail address , Robert J. Feezor, MD , Catherine K. Chang, MD , David H. Stone, MD , Philip J. Hess, MD , Tomas D. Martin, MD , Thomas S. Huber, MD, PhD , Adam W. Beck, MD

Background: The Food and Drug Administration has approved devices for endovascular management of thoracic endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (TEVAR); however, limited data exist describing the outcomes of TEVAR for aneurysms attributable to chronic type B aortic dissection (cTBAD). This study was undertaken to determine the results of endovascular treatment of cTBAD with aneurysmal degeneration.

JOURNAL OF ENDOVASCULAR THERAPY. Acute Peripheral Arterial Occlusion: Prospective Study Evaluating Intra-Arterial Thrombolysis With a Micro-Porous Balloon Catheter

Patrick Bagan , MD; Bassel Dakhil , MD; Pierre Lacal , MD; and Jean Claude Couffinhal , MD

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of a new in situ thrombolysis method using a low-pressure micro-porous balloon catheter (MPBC) compared to a traditional in situ infusion (ISI) of a fibrinolytic agent in the treatment of acute limb ischemia.

CIRCULATION. Stent Placement Versus Balloon Angioplasty for the Treatment of Obstructive Lesions of the Popliteal Artery. A Prospective, Multicenter, Randomized Trial

Aljoscha Rastan, MD; Hans Krankenberg, MD; Iris Baumgartner, MD; Erwin Blessing, MD; Stefan Müller-Hülsbeck, MD; Ernst Pilger, MD; Dierk Scheinert, MD; Johannes Lammer, MD; Martin Gißler, MD; Elias Noory, MD; Franz-Josef Neumann, MD; Thomas Zeller, MD

Background—Stenting has been shown to improve patency after femoral artery revascularization compared with balloon angioplasty. Limited data are available evaluating endovascular treatment for obstructive lesions of the popliteal artery.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Bare Metal Stenting for Endovascular Exclusion of Aortic Arch Thrombi

Andreas H. Mahnken, Andras Hoffman, Rüdiger Autschbach, Anneke L. M. Damberg

Background: Aortic thrombi in the ascending aorta or aortic arch are rare but are associated with a relevant risk of major stroke or distal embolization. Although stent grafting is commonly used as a treatment option in the descending aorta, only a few case reports discuss stenting of the aortic arch for the treatment of a thrombus. The use of bare metal stents in this setting has not yet been described.

CIRCULATION. Paclitaxel-Coated Versus Uncoated Balloon Angioplasty Reduces Target Lesion Revascularization in Patients With Femoropopliteal Arterial Disease. A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials

Salvatore Cassese, MD*, Robert A. Byrne, MB, BCh, PhD*, Ilka Ott, MD, Gjin Ndrepepa, MD, Mateja Nerad, MD, Adnan Kastrati, MD and Massimiliano Fusaro, MD

Background—In disease of the femoropopliteal artery, paclitaxel-coated balloon (PCB) therapy improved angiographic outcomes as compared with uncoated balloon (UCB) angioplasty. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether PCB may reduce the need for reintervention.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Respiration-induced Deformations of the Superior Mesenteric and Renal Arteries in Patients with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

Ga-Young Suh, PhD , Gilwoo Choi, PhD , Robert J. Herfkens, MD , Ronald L. Dalman, MD , Christopher P. Cheng, PhD

Purpose: To quantify respiration-induced deformations of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), left renal artery (LRA), and right renal artery (RRA) in patients with small abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs).
