Introduction: Systematic computed tomography angiographic (CTA) studies investigating variation in internal carotid artery (ICA) luminal diameters (LDs) are scarce. Knowledge of the normal intra-individual LD variability would provide a cut-off value for detection of more subtle collapses. In addition, low intra-individual variability would allow using contralateral LD as a reference for estimation of stenosis degree in cases where ipsilateral measurement is hampered. Therefore, our aim was to investigate intra-individual LD variation of normal ICA.
Introduction: This study aimed to identify the imaging characteristics that can help differentiate intraparenchymal hemorrhage from benign contrast extravasation on post-procedural noncontrast CT scan in acute ischemic stroke patients after endovascular treatment.
Introduction: Heubner’s recurrent artery (RAH) in brain selective catheter angiograms (digital subtraction angiography, DSA) was evaluated.
Introduction: Superselective intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC) in retinoblastoma has recently become a popular treatment option. In this study, we purposed to investigate the effectiveness of the technique of “retrograde approach through the posterior communicating artery to the ophthalmic artery (OA)” for IAC.
Introduction: Endovascular treatment of ruptured wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms presents a challenge. While still under evaluation, the Woven Endobridge (WEB) aneurysm embolization system has so far shown promising results in the treatment of complex bifurcation aneurysms. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility and short-term follow-up of endovascular treatment of ruptured wide-neck aneurysm with the WEB device.
Introduction: The impact of targeted embolization of ruptured cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM)-associated arterial aneurysms in the acute phase of bleeding is not well known. The objective of our study was to analyze the safety and efficacy of this treatment strategy with special emphasis on its protective effect against rebleeding.
Introduction: The standardized diagnostic criteria for computed tomographic angiography (CTA) in diagnosis of brain death (BD) are not yet established. The aim of the study was to compare the sensitivity and interobserver agreement of the three previously used scales of CTA for the diagnosis of BD.
Introduction: Superior cerebellar artery (SCA) aneurysms have distinctive morphologic configurations and vascular origins. Herein, we have analyzed the angioarchitectural characteristics of SCA aneurysms and outcomes achieved through endovascular treatment.
Introduction: Crossing Y-stent technique is a valid option for coiling wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms. Two main designs of stents, the closed- (CCS) and open-cell (OCS), are used in combination for a crossing Y-construct. This in vitro study was conducted to assess the mechanical characteristics of each stent-combination and to suggest an optimal combination for clinical practice.
Introduction: The aim of the study was to investigate the variations in the uncal vein (UV) termination and its clinical implication in cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistulas (CSDAVFs).
Introduction: The novel Low-profile Visualized Intraluminal Support (LVIS™, LVIS and LVIS Jr.) device was recently introduced for stent-supported coil embolization of intracranial aneurysms. Periprocedural and midterm follow-up results for its use in stent-supported coil embolization of unruptured aneurysms are presented herein.
Introduction: Protective/remodeling techniques for treating wide-necked intracranial aneurysms are constantly sought. However, their utility may be limited in lesions that incorporate the orifice of acute-angled efferent branch vessels. Furthermore, passage of a protective microcatheter may be challenging if a small branch is extremely tortuous. This study was conducted to explore a novel method of treating wide-necked aneurysms, utilizing microguidewire protection.
Introduction: The sphenopalatine ganglion (SPN) has been proven to be involved in various types of facial pain syndromes. Management of these cranio-facial pain syndromes can be challenging, and existing specific treatments are sometimes inefficient and may fail. The purpose of this study is to describe and evaluate alcohol SPN in the management of cranio-facial pain.
Background and Purpose: As a result of the rarity of spinal cord arteriovenous malformations (AVM), there are only a few series available that describe clinical features, outcome after treatment, and natural history of these lesions. In this article, we aim to describe our experience with both nidus- and fistulous-type spinal cord AVMs.
Background and Purpose: On the basis of phase II trials, we considered that transcranial laser therapy could have neuroprotective effects in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
