JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Comparison of Early Sac Shrinkage with Third-Generation Stent Grafts for Endovascular Aneurysm Repair

Naoki Fujimura, MD, PhD, Hideaki Obara, MD, PhD, Kentaro Matsubara, MD, PhD, Yasuhito Sekimoto, MD, Hirohisa Harada, MD, PhD, Masanori Inoue, MD, PhD, Hideyuki Shimizu, MD, PhD, Yuko Kitagawa, MD, PhD

Purpose: To compare the effects of the currently most-used third-generation stent grafts on early aneurysm sac shrinkage, a proposed marker of successful endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).

ACADEMIC RADIOLOGY. Comparison of Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography-Derived vs Invasive Fractional Flow Reserve Assessment

Stefan Baumann, MD, Matthias Renker, MD, Svetlana Hetjens, PhD, Stephen R. Fuller, BSc, Tobias Becher, MD, Dirk Loßnitzer, MD, Ralf Lehmann, MD, Ibrahim Akin, MD, Martin Borggrefe, MD, Siegfried Lang, PhD, Julian L. Wichmann, MD, U. Joseph Schoepf, MD

Objectives: Invasive coronary angiography (ICA) with fractional flow reserve (FFR) assessment is the reference standard for the detection of hemodynamically relevant coronary lesions. We have investigated whether coronary computed tomography angiography (cCTA)-derived FFR (fractional flow reserve from coronary computed tomographic angiography [CT-FFR]) measurement improves diagnostic accuracy over cCTA.

ACADEMIC RADIOLOGY. CT Angiography in Patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease

Seitaro Oda, MD, PhD, Akira Yoshimura, MD, Keiichi Honda, RT, Yuji Iyama, MD, Kazuhiro Katahira, MD, PhD, Takeshi Nakaura, MD, PhD, Daisuke Utsunomiya, MD, PhD, Yoshinori Funama, PhD, Hideaki Yuki, MD, PhD, Masafumi Kidoh, MD, PhD, Kenichiro Hirata, MD, Narumi Taguchi, MD, Shinichi Tokuyasu, AD, Yasuyuki Yamashita, MD, PhD

Objectives: We investigated the effects of small focal spot (SFS) imaging and iterative model reconstruction (IMR) on the image quality of computed tomography angiographs (CTA) in patients with peripheral arterial disease.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Characterization of Portal Vein Thrombosis (Neoplastic Versus Bland) on CT Images Using Software-Based Texture Analysis and Thrombus Density (Hounsfield Units)

Rodrigo Canellas, Farhad Mehrkhani, Manuel Patino, Avinash Kambadakone and Dushyant Sahani

OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of CT texture analysis and thrombus density (measured in Hounsfield units) in distinguishing between neoplastic and bland portal vein thrombosis (PVT) on portal venous phase CT.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Transradial Approach for Hepatic Radioembolization: Initial Results and Technique

Vivian L. Bishay, Derek M. Biederman, Thomas J. Ward, Imramsjah Martijn J. van der Bom, Rahul S. Patel, Edward Kim, Francis S. Nowakowski, Robert A. Lookstein and Aaron M. Fischman

OBJECTIVE. The transradial approach (TRA) has been shown to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with arterial coronary interventions. Selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) performed via the TRA can enhance patient comfort, compared with the traditional transfemoral approach (TFA), by allowing immediate ambulation and precluding potential complications associated with the TFA, such as closure device injury or retroperitoneal hematoma. We report our initial experience with and technique for using the TRA for SIRT.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Aggressive Intrasegmental Recurrence of Hepatocellular Carcinoma After Combined Transarterial Chemoembolization and Radiofrequency Ablation

Kyoung Doo Song, Min Woo Lee, Hyunchul Rhim, Young-sun Kim, Tae Wook Kang, Sung Wook Shin and Sung Ki Cho

OBJECTIVE. The goal of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of combined transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in terms of the frequency of aggressive intrasegmental recurrence.

AMERICAN JOURNAL OF ROENTGENOLOGY. Computer-Based Vertebral Tumor Cryoablation Planning and Procedure Simulation Involving Two Cases Using MRI-Visible 3D Printing and Advanced Visualization

Jeffrey P. Guenette, Nathan Himes, Andreas A. Giannopoulos, Tatiana Kelil, Dimitris Mitsouras and Thomas C. Lee

OBJECTIVE. We report the development and use of MRI-compatible and MRI-visible 3D printed models in conjunction with advanced visualization software models to plan and simulate safe access routes to achieve a theoretic zone of cryoablation for percutaneous image-guided treatment of a C7 pedicle osteoid osteoma and an L1 lamina osteoblastoma. Both models altered procedural planning and patient care.
