CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome: A Single-Center Experience with 23 Patients

Layla A. Nasr, Walid G. Faraj, Aghiad Al-Kutoubi, Mohamad Hamady, Mohamad Khalifeh, Ali Hallal, Hamzeh M. Halawani, Joelle Wazen, Ali A. Haydar

Background: Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is a rare entity that occurs when the median arcuate ligament of the diaphragm is low-lying, causing a compression to the underlying celiac trunk. We reviewed the vascular changes associated with MALS in an effort to emphasize the seriousness of this disease and the complications that may result.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Portal Vein Embolization with Contralateral Application of Stem Cells Facilitates Increase of Future Liver Remnant Volume in Patients with Liver Metastases

Jaroslav Ludvík, Petr Duras, Vladislav Treska, Táña Matousková, Jan Bruha, Jakub Fichtl, Daniel Lysák, Jirí Ferda, Jan Baxa

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the progress of future liver remnant volume (FLRV) in patients with liver metastases after portal vein embolization (PVE) with the application of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and compare it with a patients control group after PVE only.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Ischemic Gastric Conditioning by Preoperative Arterial Embolization Before Oncologic Esophagectomy: A Single-Center Experience

Julien Ghelfi, Pierre-Yves Brichon, Julien Frandon, Bastien Boussat, Ivan Bricault, Gilbert Ferretti, Sébastien Guigard, Christian Sengel

Purpose: Surgical esophagectomy is the gold standard treatment of early-stage esophageal cancer. The procedure is complicated with significant morbidity; the most severe complication being the anastomotic leakage. Anastomotic fistulas are reported in 5–25% of cases and are mainly due to gastric transplant ischemia. Here, we report our experience of ischemic pre-conditioning using preoperative arterial embolization (PreopAE) before esophagectomy.

EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF RADIOLOGY. Efficacy and safety of balloon pulmonary angioplasty for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension guided by cone-beam computed tomography and electrocardiogram-gated area detector computed tomography

Takeshi Ogo, Tetsuya Fukuda, Akihiro Tsuji, Shigefumi Fukui, Jin Ueda, Yoshihiro Sanda, Yoshiaki Morita, Ryotaro Asano, Nao Konagai, Satoshi Yasuda

Background: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension ( CTEPH) is a disease characterized by chronic obstructive thrombus and pulmonary hypertension. Balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA), an emerging alternative catheter-based treatment for inoperable patients with CTEPH, has not yet been standardised, especially for lesion assessment in distal pulmonary arteries. Recent advancement in computed tomography enables distal CTEPH lesions to be visualized.

EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF RADIOLOGY. Computed tomography versus digital subtraction angiography for the diagnosis of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding

Moritz Wildgruber, Christian E. Wrede, Niels Zorger, René Müller-Wille, Okka W. Hamer, Florian Zeman, Christian Stroszczynski, Peter Heiss

Purpose: The diagnostic yield of computed tomography angiography (CTA) compared to digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for major obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB) is not known. Aim of the study was to prospectively evaluate the diagnostic yield of CTA versus DSA for the diagnosis of major OGIB.
