CARDIOVASCULAR AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY. Semiautomatic Sizing Software in Emergency Endovascular Aneurysm Repair for Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

Jorik J. Reimerink, Henk A. Marquering, Anco Vahl, Willem Wisselink, Michiel A. Schreve, Diederick W. De Boo, Jim A. Reekers, Dink A. Legemate, Ron Balm

Purpose: In emergency endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured aneurysms of the aorta (rAAA), anatomical suitability must be determined. Semiautomatic three-dimensional assessment of the aortoiliac arteries has the potential to standardise measurements. This study assesses the fitness for purpose of such a semiautomatic approach for rAAA and determined interobserver agreement on suitability.

CATHETERIZATION AND CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTIONS. Transpedal access after failed anterograde recanalization of complex below-the-knee and femoropoliteal occlusions in critical limb ischemia

Zoltán Ruzsa MD, PHD1,2,*, Balázs Nemes MD, PHD1, Zoltán Bánsághi MD2,3, Károly Tóth MD2, Ferenc Kuti MD2, Slavka Kudrnova MD1, Balázs Berta MD1, Kálmán Hüttl MD, DSC1 andBéla Merkely MD, DSC1

Background: Successful angioplasty is one of the main factor of limb salvage during critical limb ischemia. In complex femoropopliteal to infrapopliteal occlusions, an anterograde recanalization attempt can fail in up to 20% of the cases. The purpose of this dual center pilot study was to evaluate the acute success and clinical impact of retrograde transpedal access for retrograde below-the-knee and femoropopliteal chronic total occlusions after failed anterograde attempt and to access the late complications at the puncture site.

CATHETERIZATION AND CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTIONS. Tibio-pedal arterial minimally invasive retrograde revascularization in patients with advanced peripheral vascular disease: The TAMI technique, original case series

J.A. Mustapha MD*, Fadi Saab MD, Theresa McGoff BSN, Carmen Heaney BSN, Larry Diaz-Sandoval MD, Matthew Sevensma DO andBarbara Karenko DO

Background: A tibial-pedal access method is needed for patients with advanced peripheral artery disease (PAD) unable to tolerate common femoral artery (CFA) access and intervention due to body habitus or comorbidities. This is the first case series reporting an alternative technique to revascularize such patients. Using ultrasound (US) and the tibio-pedal arterial minimally invasive retrograde revascularization (TAMI) technique, operators accessed, and revascularized the lower extremity completely via tibial-pedal arterial access.

JACC: CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTIONS. Percutaneous Treatment of a Complex Saccular Aortic Pseudoaneurysm With Covered Stenting After Subclavian Artery Translocation

Cecilia Craviari∗; Nathaniel W. Taggart, MD∗; Frank Cetta, MD∗; Donald J. Hagler, MD∗; Thomas C. Bower, MD‡; Daniel A. Mauriello, MD∗; Jonathan N. Johnson, MD∗

A 44-year-old woman presented to our institution for evaluation of an expanding aortic saccular pseudoaneurysm. She had a history of an end-end repair of coarctation of the aorta at 4 years of age. At 29 years of age, she received a diagnosis of a pseudoaneurysm measuring 10 mm at the site of the previous repair. Since that time, the pseudoaneurysm had doubled in size. She also had a history of hypertension and had been treated with atenolol.

JOURNAL OF VASCULAR SURGERY. Factors that influence perforator thrombosis and predict healing with perforator sclerotherapy for venous ulceration without axial reflux

Misaki M. Kiguchi, MD, MBA , Eric S. Hager, MD , Daniel G. Winger, MS , Stanley A. Hirsch, MD , Rabih A. Chaer, MD , Ellen D. Dillavou, MD

Objective: Refluxing perforators contribute to venous ulceration. We sought to describe patient characteristics and procedural factors that (1) impact rates of incompetent perforator vein (IPV) thrombosis with ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy (UGS) and (2) impact the healing of venous ulcers (CEAP 6) without axial reflux.

EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY. Graft Durability and Fatigue after In Situ Fenestration of Endovascular Stent Grafts Using Radiofrequency Puncture and Balloon Dilatation

L.A. Eadie , G. Soulez , M.W. King , L.W. Tse

Objectives: In situ fenestration of endovascular stent grafts is a technique that is becoming more common, as it has the advantages of decreased cost, increased availability, and more anatomic configuration than other methods of branch revascularization. However, a significant concern is the short- and long-term durability of the stent graft fabric during and after fenestration.
